Register Your Interest in Playing for one of our Teams
WHAT IS TEAM TENNIS
Team Tennis is regular competitive doubles between April and August, where you represent your club against other local clubs on outdoor courts.
The South Devon Tennis Centre has a mixture of ability teams, from lower division to top division teams. We play in the Plymouth and District and the South Devon Leagues.
The more people who commit to playing at the start of the season, the more teams we can put out each year.
HOW MANY MATCHES DO YOU PLAY?
The season usually consists of approximately 5 home and 5 away matches.
You will play in a team of 8-10 other players. Each week a team of 4 players, 2 pairs, will play against two pairs from another club.
All team members will give their availability at the start of the season and be allocated matches.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Matches are played outside so you don’t pay a court fee, but there is a £2 charge per person for home matches to cover the cost of the tennis balls.
Players make their own arrangements to travel to and from other clubs, and sometimes lift share.
WHAT IS THE FORMAT?
During each match, you and your partner will play against two other parings from another club. You will play the best of three sets, with the third set being a tiebreaker.
WHEN DO YOU PLAY?
All matches are played on week a night. Matches usually start at 6PM, and finish around 9PM. The dates are set by the league and only get cancelled when there is extremely bad weather, so we are looking for people who can make a commitment to play.
WHAT DOES YOUR TEAM NEED TO DO TO WIN?
Your team will play all of the other pairs in your division. Every game you win will count towards your point total. The top 2 pairs will get promoted to the division above. The bottom two will be demoted.
